SME Response Center — First-Time User Guide

New here? This guide walks you through everything you need to run your first survey — from setting up a project to sharing a public link and reading responses.

Getting Started

The SME Response Center is a platform for creating, sharing, and analyzing surveys. Here's the big picture of how the pieces fit together:

Projects

Containers that organize your surveys and sessions under one initiative or event.

Surveys

The actual questionnaires people fill out — each gets a public share link.

Sessions

Event sessions that auto-generate their own feedback survey + QR code.

Templates

Pre-built survey structures you can launch from in one click.

The typical flow is: Create a ProjectCreate a Survey (or launch from a Template) → Share the public linkRead responses. Sessions are a shortcut for event feedback.
How to Create a Project

A project groups related surveys under one initiative, event, or program.

1

Open the Projects page

Click Projects in the left sidebar.

2

Click "New Project"

The blue button in the top-right opens a form dialog.

3

Fill in the details

Give your project a name (required). Optionally add a business unit, event program name, owner, description, start/end dates, and associated events.

4

Save

Click Save. Your project now appears as a card. You can click View Project to see all surveys and sessions inside it.

Projects are optional but recommended — they keep your surveys organized and roll up response counts into one total.
How to Create a Survey

A survey is the questionnaire your audience will fill out.

1

Open the Surveys page

Click Surveys in the sidebar.

2

Click "New Survey"

Opens a form where you set the survey's title, description, type, business unit, and project.

3

Set the status to "Active"

A survey must be active before the public can fill it out. Drafts can't be shared yet.

4

Save, then build your questions

After saving, click View on the survey card to open its detail page. There you'll use the Survey Builder tab to add and reorder questions (short text, multiple choice, rating, etc.).

You can also create a survey by launching from a Template — see the next section.
How to Use Templates

Templates give you a ready-made set of questions so you don't start from scratch.

1

Open the Templates page

Click Templates in the sidebar. You'll see a grid of template cards organized by category.

2

Preview a template

Click any card to preview the questions it includes.

3

Launch a survey from it

Click Use Template. This opens the survey form with the template's questions pre-loaded — just set your title, project, and status, then save.

Templates are the fastest way to get a professional survey live. Pick the category that matches your goal (event feedback, audience, membership, etc.).
How to View Your Survey

The survey detail page is your control center for each survey.

1

Go to Surveys

Click Surveys in the sidebar.

2

Click "View" on a survey card

This opens the Survey Detail page, which has tabs for building questions and viewing analytics.

3

Preview the live form

From the detail page you can open the public form to see exactly what your respondents will see.

The detail page also shows your response count, survey status, and settings — all in one place.
How to Share the Public Survey Link

Every active survey has a public link you can send to anyone — no login required.

1

Go to the Surveys page

Each survey card shows its public link path (like /s/your-survey-slug) if one exists.

2

Copy the link

Click the copy icon on the card, or open the survey detail page and copy from there.

3

Or open it directly

Click the icon to open the live survey form in a new tab.

4

Make sure it's "Active"

If the survey is in draft status, set it to active first — otherwise respondents can't submit answers.

The public link is what you'll email, text, or post. Anyone with the link can fill out the survey — no account needed.
What Are Sessions For?

Sessions are a specialized shortcut for event feedback. Instead of manually building a survey for every session at a conference, you create a Session and the platform does the rest.

Auto Survey

Each session generates its own feedback survey with standard questions.

Auto QR Code

A QR code is created so attendees can scan and rate the session instantly.

Project Linked

Sessions attach to a project so all feedback rolls up together.

When to use a Session vs. a regular Survey:

Use a Session when you're collecting feedback on a specific event session or speaker — it auto-builds the survey and QR code for you.

Use a regular Survey for anything else — audience research, membership polls, lead capture, etc.

To create a session: go to SessionsNew Session → fill in event, session title, speaker, and project → save. The QR code and survey are generated automatically.
How to See Responses

Once people start submitting, you can view results in a few places:

Responses page — a platform-wide list of every submission, from surveys and sessions alike.

Survey Detail page → Analytics tab — per-survey charts and answer breakdowns.

Dashboard — top-level stats: total projects, surveys, responses, and active counts.

Reports — deeper analysis and exports.

The Dashboard combines regular survey responses and session evaluation responses into one total — so your numbers always reflect everything.

Ready to try it?

Start by creating a project, then add your first survey.
